Ayahuasca to Treat Depression and Anxiety

For centuries, tribes in the Amazon rainforest have used the ayahuasca hallucinogen to help steer people through visual and audio hallucinations.

Today the drug is becoming popular around the world, with previous research showing that this drug will be able to treat depression and anxiety. It is also used as a medicine in healing centers and retreats which can be called as Ayahuasca Retreats.

Ayahuasca as hallucinogenic powers, but its leaves are known to contain DMT, a substance that has a structure similar to serotonin neurotransmitter, which is also found in the magic mushroom, which has the potential for healing depression as well. The enzymes in our digestion are normally capable of not activating the DMT so that it will not affect us. However, the vines contained in the ayahuasca block the enzyme to work properly and allow the DMT to enter the bloodstream. Within half an hour of consuming the plant, the drink will begin to have a hallucinating effect, and the effect lasts for six hours. Through such effect, it can help treat depression and anxiety.
